ART! Some are unique, some tell stories, but all are very personal.
Returning to Art after a long non-art career, I wasn’t sure I could still “do it”. With the help of wonderful teachers, I found I could. My first love was Oils with any type of subject: still life, landscapes, and portraiture. From there I found the fun of Pastels and stretched myself to develop realistic landscapes. Drawing being the foundation turned me back into a student who is learning again.
Summers attending the Anthony Ryder Studio in Santa Fe, NM for intense, two- week workshops gave me the confidence that I could model with graphite and this gave me a boost to add drawing technique to each of my new works. Lindy Cook Severns introduced me to the joy of Pastels and the wonders of that painting form. Time spent at Sul Ross University taking classes from Carol Fairlie and many lovely hours with Deborah Allison moved me to the level where I am ready to show my work.
As I move into this phase I am finding a passion to try new things with color and exploring techniques that I wouldn’t have attempted before.
And above all else, I am learning to see again with an artist’s view the world around me!
